Fine art paintings, drawings, and sculpture using handmade or commercial paper as the surface.

Cut Paper Cut Paper
Sculptural paintings incorprating cut commercial paper or cut incised handmade paper.

Style History: There are two methods to my cut paper art: The first method involves taking cut or torn paper and adhering it to a paper backing. Rarely is paint involved. The shapes can lay flat or lift off the paper surface to which they are attached. This method can be seen in “Swirling Black Paper” and in “Swimming Pool”.

The second method involves using my incised handmade paper. The incised paper is cut to form shapes that adhere to the incised paper backing. The shapes are designed to lift off the paper to produce a three dimensional sculpture. In these pieces light, texture, and the three dimensional form play the largest role whereas color is secondary. This method can be seen in “Red Spirals”.
